I have only been for 2 days in Malta but it looks like I have been here for 2 weeks! I visited a lot in such a short time. Probably the small surface of the island has something to do with it.
On the first day I had a walk in San Julian and Sliema (those 2 places are only 25 minutes far by foot from each other).
San Julian is the place to be for party animals. There are many bars and nightclubs line the streets of Paceville, an area south of St. George’s Bay Bea.
Sliema is a resort town on the east coast of Malta. The waterfront features a long promenade.
The skyline view of Valletta from Sliema:
The restaurant that I want to suggest you in Sliema (yes again Italian food) is Fratelli La Bufela
Popeye Village Malta has grown from its days as a Film Set of the 1980 Musical Production ‘Popeye’ into one of the major tourist attractions on the north of Malta filled with a number of colorful fun activities.
After my quick visit to Popeye village I went to Golden Bay. This is actually just a very small sandy beach and is very close to the Riviera of Malta which is located in the north/west part of the island.
I had a wonderful lunch in the bar of Golden Bay.
The Maltese Riviera is very beautiful! I went for a short hiking tour and after that I could relax at the beautiful sandy beach.
After relaxing at the beach I went to visit Mdina “also known as the silent city. This city used to be the capital of Malta but when Valletta was build, it changed.
Meanwhile I was going the the south of the island, I made a short stop at ” La Grotta”. Since it was already in the afternoon, I could’n really see the crystal blue water. If you fully want to enjoy this natural beauty I would suggest you to go in the morning with a boat.
At the end of the day I went to the port in Marsaloxx to relax and to drink Maltese wine. Its a very beautiful place to be!
On Wednesday I decided to stay in Sprach Aparthotel in Pembroke very near to San Julian. This is a very cheap but good quality hotel with a big swimming pool. I can recommend this hotel to every solo traveller!
I still have a whole day to go today and after that still 4 days so stay tuned for my next blog posts 🙂
